Real Bride: Meagan

Bride: Meagan  |   Groom: David

How did you meet your husband?

David and I met online through eHarmony! But it was my friend who I had not seen for years who, out on a catch-up night, took my phone and decided to go through my matches and start a chat with someone – lucky David – luckier ME!

How did your partner propose to you?

David proposed in a very intimate setting with the most beautiful words and a ring that was so perfectly me – how could I say no?

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

The ceremony – it was just as I had imagined and so special. Our wedding was all about our love for each other and the joining of our two families. It was so special to share this with our children and parents..

Did you have a theme or concept for your wedding day?

We wanted something romantic and in a historic building – Fortuna Villa was perfect. However, our theme should have been COVID-19 as we had to move our wedding forward three days with just a few days’ notice before we were required to enter lock-down. In the end we were so happy that we did go through with an earlier date instead of putting it off.

How did you find the experience of shopping for a wedding gown?

Wedding shopping was a lot of fun and very exciting. It was a beautiful experience to share with my mum, my daughter and special friend, Bron. I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted, and Bron from Bendigo Bridal Collections and Paul Fox from Jean Fox designers knew how to create the perfect gown for me. My Mum and daughter also found their dresses at Bendigo Bridal Collections. We loved every minute of the experience, including finally wearing our gowns!

What did you love about your wedding gown?

Everything – but when Bron added more beading it really bought the dress to life and became more ‘me’.

Any words of wisdom for future brides?

Enjoy the day and remember what it symbolises – a lifetime together of love and happiness. For us, our wedding day was about how much David and I love each other and our family – they are the most important things in our world. Some very special family members could not be with us due to COVID-19 but we were able to ‘zoom’ our wedding around the world so that everyone we love were able to be with us – that is what I will remember.
