Real Bride: Maddy

Bride: Maddy  |   Groom: Luke

How did you meet your husband?

My husband and I both cycle. We met on a group bunch ride one morning and the friendship grew from there.

How did your partner propose to you?

I had just finished my final placement for University and my husband took me out for breakfast to celebrate me finishing uni. He proposed to me at breakfast.

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

There wasn’t a particular part of the day that was my favourite. The whole day was incredible. If I had to choose one moment, it would have been walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing my husband standing at the end of the aisle. We spent the night before the wedding apart, so this was the first time I got to see him for the day.

Did you have a theme or concept for your wedding day?

We didn’t have a theme or concept for our wedding day. We looked on Pinterest to gather ideas that we liked and most of our wedding was planned based on the colours of the bridesmaids dressed and groomsmen
suits. We tried to supported local businesses in all possible aspects of the wedding.

How did you find the experience of shopping for a wedding gown?

Bendigo Bridal Collections made choosing my gown so easy. I went into the store with my mum to look at the sale rack, with no intention to buy a dress that day. I had no idea what I wanted to have for a wedding dress I
just wanted to have a look at some different styles. I never actually looked at the sale rack. There was a dress in the window that I spotted on the way in that I liked the look of. Bron got me to try that one on first, followed by a few other style dresses and I kept coming back to that first dress. I knew then that it was the one.

What did you love about your wedding gown?

I love everything about my gown. The glam, the horsehair trimmed skirt and the way the dress flowed when I walked. There was nothing I would have wanted any other way.

Any words of wisdom for future brides?

Things won’t always go exactly to plan. Don’t worry about it. It will still turn out to be just as amazing as you wanted it to be.
